Norris Energy Camp
Norris Public Power District participates in the Rural Electric Youth Energy Camp by sponsoring up to four students to attend an educational and recreational camp each summer.

Eligibility
High school students, served electrically by Norris Public Power District, who are currently in the 9th, 10th, or 11th grade are eligible to attend a weeklong camp to be held each year in July at the State 4-H Camp near Halsey, Nebraska.

The camp involves around 100 high school-aged young men and women from Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado whose farms and homes are served by one of the Nebraska Rural Electric Association's member systems. The District is a member of the Nebraska Rural Electric Association and the Norris Board of Directors has voted to take part in this program.

Leadership
The camp offers leadership training, environmental awareness, character building and social interaction while teaching participants about energy generation, electric safety and careers in the rural electric program. The week is intermingled with fun activities, including a volleyball tournament, a talent show, canoeing, dancing and a tour of the Nebraska Public Power District´s Gerald Gentleman Power Station near Sutherland, Nebraska.

Leadership is stressed when students compete to win a free trip to Washington, D.C. as ambassadors or return to the next year´s camp as a junior counselor. Students selected to attend the Rural Electric Youth Energy Camp will receive an all-expense paid trip, including transportation to and from camp by the Norris District.
