Louie the Lightning Bug Appearances
Louie the Lightning Bug (the Electrical Safety Mascot) adds excitement to parades and special programs...and the kids love him! Several electrical safety videos featuring Louie are available for your use at no charge.

The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Program
Through a network of students, educators, business, government and community leaders, the program uses a train-the-teacher concept to develop strong energy programs for Nebraska's schools.

NEED provides the materials while we provide support and assistance. Participating schools receive plaques and certificates. Top schools travel to Washington, D.C. for the NEED National Recognition Ceremonies held each summer.

Demonstration Trailer
If you have ever been curious about how powerful high voltage electricity really is, the Norris Public Power District can demonstrate it with our Safety Demonstration Trailer.

The trailer has power lines that are the same as those that run down the road throughout the Norris District. It is used to show that electricity must be treated with care and respect in order to prevent injury or death.

Some of the dramatic demonstrations include the effects of coming into contact with overhead power lines and household wiring.

Norris personnel show how items such as tree branches, irrigation pipes, and rubber tires are affected when they come in contact with electricity. The presentation also shows how a person's body is affected by contact with power lines.

The safety demonstration trailer is available for presentations. To arrange for a presentation to your group or school, contact the Norris office nearest you.
