Residential Customers

Residential customers of the Norris District can take advantage of the Load Control Management Program which allows the District to temporarily turn off electric service to water heaters and air conditioners in order to reduce the power demand on the entire system. In return for allowing the District to install a control device on this equipment, the customer receives up to $48 credit on annual billing.

Irrigation Customers

Irrigation customers can receive lower rates by taking part in the program. There are two special interruptible rates which provide operators with reduced costs:

Rate 10
Full service available to motors of all sizes.
Rate 12
Non-connected service to be available the following season.
Rate 13
Rate 13, the anytime-interruptible rate, offers the greatest savings since it gives Norris the most flexibility to reduce demand levels. Norris is able to control the power load by taking the irrigation well motor off the system when demand levels reach peak amounts.
Rate 14
The three-day interruptible Rate 14 allows an irrigator to run a system in large blocks of time with Norris controlling the load for only three consecutive days during critical demand periods. The irrigation system will then operate for the next four days without being controlled.
Communication Options
Irrigation Hotline

The District provides an "Irrigation Hotline" which will provide more deatiled information regarding expected control times within a particular day. The pre-recorded message will be updated throughout the day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Hotline telephone numbers are 402-228-2840 and 800-858-4708.

KRVN - 880 AM

KRVN radio will announce load control information at 8:29 a.m. Monday - Saturday. Code Red will mean a control day and Code Green will mean no control for the day. Norris Power will be identified as one of the power districts for whose customers the message is intended.

E-mail Service

Customer notification by E-mail will again be offered in 2007. For those of you who prefer notification through your E-mail system, the District will be sending E-mail messages throughout the summer with the daily control information. Sign up for this service is easy. Simply send an E-mail to us at comments@norrispower.com indicating you would like to receive the daily E-mail messages regarding the load control information. Information via this service will be similar to what can be heard on the Irrigation Hotline.

If you have any questions regarding our load control program or any of the above communication systems, please call your Area office and District personnel will be glad to discuss it with you.
